Happy with my INPA K+DCAN Interface Setup

After setting up the interface and Inpa setup, I was left feeling satisfied that everything was working as expected. To ensure that the interface did not get damaged in case of a malfunction, I took precautions to lift the pin (UBatt_1.jpg) using a transistor BC547/1K/10K as an inverter. This would pull the pin to GND if the interface receives +12V on pin 16 of the OBD2 connector (UBatt_2.jpg). As a result, the UBatt dot is always black.

After examining the FTD232RL board, I noticed that the RI pin was directly connected to GND. This solved the Ignition ON indication problem. Initially, resistors R5 & R6 were not properly connected, which prevented me from getting ~5V at the junction between both resistors (see picture 'Ignition.jpg'). However, after tracing back the tracks from OBD2 pin 1 and finding two resistors mounted on the board as voltage dividers, I decided to fix this issue.

I discovered that RI from the TTL-USB converter is used to indicate UBatt and DSR/DTR is used to indicate Ignition ON. While testing the interface with a BMW vehicle, I found that both the UBatt and Ignition dots were always black. To resolve this, I installed BMW Standard Tools 2.12 as per instructions provided by our friend Bimmer.
